Furthermore... ;) You are very right about the re-training of our minds that's necessary to not have our thinking of swing thoughts dominate. As Dr. Joe recommends, I've been finding that even just a consistent deep cleansing breath before each swing helps clear the mind. And, in fact, this morning Joe even told me that sometimes when he tells people he teaches the "Mental Game" they ask if he "teaches golf too." People are apparently so enthralled with swing mechanics that they don't even recognize that the mental (or inner) game is a key part of golf. For some people, swing thoughts and working on their swing is all they know. Sad but true. Hopefully, those of us who know better can help to educate the others and thereby improve the culture of golf. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for your comment, Jon. I guess I'm doing the next best thing (well, in addition to getting to talk to Joe on the phone this AM), I'm watching his DVD's... and I have to say they are full of good coaching, Zen Golf style. More on that in the blog soon.

Nice job beating your personal par. I can relate to hitting your best shots when you just let go and let your natural swing come out.

It's so hard not to think of "how" or swing thoughts after so many years of thinking swing thoughts.

Too bad you can't play with Dr. Parent more often.
