South course. Blue tees.
Beautiful. Some spectacular ocean front holes including the famous #15. What a joy to play golf in such an awesome environment. I was inspired.
On the front, I had three pars, five bogies and a double. Seven over. 43 going out. Then as the trades finally gusted, I lost my equilibrium on #10. Toed one into the lava for a triple. And then… And then… Six straight pars! Including #15 with a hybrid 5-iron, left and pin high, and a chip and a putt for par. This was one hole where I didn’t mind waiting one bit. The water was many heavenly shades of blue.
I felt in the hula groove of rhythm and ease. Finishing bogie-bogie for a 41 coming home, I had my best score in a long time. Yahoo! I’m back.
Mainly, I’m swinging smooth and easy; and not letting anything get in my head that can get in my way. Whew! Great fun. Nice ad hoc companions too.
